Overview
This protocol was designed by Lianxinke in China. UCS7804 allows connection of either one RGB or one RGBW LED per chip, and selection between RGB/RGBW is made available through digital configuration. It receives 8-bit data, but upscales this to a gamma-corrected 16-bit curve, giving the ability for high resolution, with fewer DMX channels required. There is also a built-in gray level smoothing function built-in to the protocol, allowing for even smoother looking dimming curves. The control circuit comes in a SOP8 package, allowing for more flexibility with LED choice.
Current Control
UCS7804 has the ability to digitally control the current of the connected LEDs. Use the 6-bit current control per color to lower the brightness without sacrificing resolution, and tune the current of individual colors, allowing for more accurate color mixing. This individual current control can be set when configuring your PixLite Mk3 controller.

Considerations for Use
Advantages
- Very high PWM rate allows for filming these pixels with cameras up to 533fps
- Up to 30V, allowing for very long cable lengths
- Additional 8 bits of built-in gamma correction enhances LED output to 16 bits, making colors more accurate and dimming curves more smooth
- Option for white LED allows for higher brightness and more color mixing options
Disadvantages
- Data-only restricts refresh rates to be limited by the speed of the protocol, which can be slow
